Antiques and Art Show and Sale
October 6-8,
2006
Ironwood Farm
The Pieces and
Places of History Antiques and Art Show benefits the Friends of
Riverview, the non-profit fundraising arm of Riverview at Hobson
Grove. Riverview, built between 1857 - 1872 just across the Barren
River from Ironwood Farm, is now a historic house museum interpreting
the late Victorian time period in south central Kentucky. The home
is considered one of the Commonwealth's best examples of the Italianate
style. Proceeds from this event will aid in the operation and continued
maintenance of this historic property.
About Ironwood
Farm
Historic Ironwood Farm was founded in 1852 by Congressman Joseph
Rogers Underwood. While serving in the U.S. House of Representatives,
the widowed Underwood met and married Elizabeth Cox, daughter of
the Mayor of Georgetown, District of Columbia. Elizabeth and J.R.
Underwood built the fine home that now serves as the centerpiece
of the farm. In the late 20th century, current owners Charlotte
and David Garvin constructed the barn as the nucleus of their thoroughbred
horse operation.
